Historian claims Theresa May's one year at the helm pushed Tories into abyss.

The Tories are in their worst position for a century after a year under Theresa May’s leadership and as Brexit looms, one of most eminent historians of Downing Street has said.

On july 11 2016 may appointed as tory party leader after andrea leadsom withdraws. on july 13 2016 appointed as prime minister by queen, become britains second female PM and taking over a party that enjoyed a huge poll lead over Labour and was united behind her.

The 1956 Suez Crisis - the traditional benchmark of British political disasters - was not as bad for the Tories because the economy was strong and the party had a large majority.

Seldon called May’s first 12 months “a year of reversals” and said it was “pretty difficult to find any prime minister in the last 100 years in truth who has had such a difficult first year”.Because, Theresa May and britain had lot of bad memories in the year after may joined in tory party.

The main reason theresa may remains prime minister is Labour’s poll lead and the absence of an obvious replacement.

She also sought to set out a bold vision, describing a “country that works for everyone” from the steps of Number 10 and sounding firmly in control of events ahead when she pledged “Brexit means Brexit.”

On january 17 May outlines her brexit strategy and fails to guarentee rights of EU citizens.
